In 1989, Knishev made "The Dutch Army" the first Soviet TV documentary about Nato forces. In 1990, he was invited to America to co-direct, co-host and compose music for a PBS television special in Seattle.

Knishev, 33, approaches serious subject with humor and irony. He is also critical of himself. "I'm not in love with myself", he says, "just infatuated".
